Qing Tian Residence stands on what was originally a government official’s residence during the Japanese colonial era. After more than 90 years, we are fortunate that its structural foundation remains well-preserved. Thanks to the expertise of the restoration team, this building—once destined to crumble into ruins—has been given a renewed life and purpose.

What you see today is the result of countless rounds of careful repairs, adjustments, and refinements. The current Qing Tian Residence blends the charm of its original wooden beams with minimalist elements of modern Japanese aesthetics. This fusion of old and new brings both nostalgia and freshness to the space.

More importantly, Qing Tian Residence welcomes every traveler with sincerity and warmth.
A new chapter in its history begins now—and we invite you to be a part of it, as we create the next 90 years of stories together.

The first time I saw Qing Tian Residence was in a narrow alley in Tainan.
It was clearly aged—time had left its marks—but as we looked more closely, we realized its bones were still intact, and the foundation surprisingly steady.
Despite the wear and tear, it had a soul that was hard to walk away from.
I thought to myself, “Restoring this might be really tough… but maybe—it deserves a second chance.”

We couldn’t just let it fade away. So we decided to try, to breathe new life into this old house.

Step by step, we got to work: reinforcing the base, strengthening the structure, rebuilding the frame, walls, and windows. The whole process took seven months—along the way, we faced two typhoons and a full monsoon season.
It wasn’t easy, but with each stage of the restoration, we found ourselves more and more connected to the house and what it could become.

Today, Qing Tian proudly holds on to its original wooden beams, now paired with clean, modern Japanese-style elements.
Old and new exist here in quiet harmony.
We hope this won’t be just a place you stayed for a night—but a place that stays with you long after you leave.
